Elegant and Cosy

In seating, understated and comforting lightweight fabrics paired with elements of warm wood epitomise this look. Opting for neutral upholstery helps open the space and creates a base that can be warmed up with accessories and soft furnishings.

If space allows, a symmetrical layout can elevate the look with pairs of sofas or armchairs working particularly well together.

Authentic Floors

“Considering the typical temperatures of Mediterranean countries hard flooring is a must when looking to recreate this style; whether that be a wood, tile or stone effect, says David Snazel, Carpetright Buyer, Hard Flooring.

Opting for tile style flooring, such as luxury vinyl, laminate or vinyl, in muted tones of these shades will be an affordable alternative to individual tiles and will effectively emulate their designs.

Tiling Tricks

The Mediterranean design is known for its natural earthy tones and rich colours, and there are plenty of tiles out there that share the same influences and can help achieve this look, says Katy Harris, Creative Lead at Tile Giant. Red, orange, yellow and terracotta are typical for the style, complemented by light or rich blues and neutral creams and whites.

Mediterranean design can work well in both modern and traditional homes, depending on how much of this fascinating region you want to bring into your design. Mosaic design and patterns are essential for a Mediterranean look!

Budget Style

Combining white and blue tiles can be a great way to achieve a Mediterranean or Greek inspired look, especially if you’re working on a budget. White tiles reflect the light and make for a brighter look, which can make all the difference in places that aren’t quite so fortunate with summers, like here in the UK.

Bring together a mix of white tiles with matching styles in blue tones. Or even weave in some deep blue mosaic tiles, to resemble the jewelled waters lapping up onto the perfect white beaches of the region.
