Flooring For Small Spaces
In this week’s Home Comforts pages, we look at how to make the most of hallways, which can be difficult spaces to floor and furnish. Here we take advice from the experts in the latest trends in flooring for small spaces:
Go Wild With Pattern
The trend for patterned floors has continued to grow and small rooms are often the starting point for many, as people look to let their imaginations run wild in “less risk” areas of the home. Whether that’s revisiting older style patterns such as herringbone or monochrome checkerboard or experimenting with colour and contemporary design, homeowners seem to be embracing pattern and using if cleverly in small spaces to create the feel of a larger room.

Look Alikes
Social media has played a big part in inspiring homeowners with choosing their looks and style. However, real wood and stone floors aren’t necessarily the most cost effective or practical solution for many. We came up with a range of stone, wood and quartz look floors which make it very easy to add that real look feel without the cost.

Natural Fibres
A growing trend from homeowners for natural and sustainable materials has seen a rise in trends such as biophilic design, where feel good spaces and the wellbeing of families are enhanced by the interiors around them. Maybe ten years ago, people were constricted to a narrow range of products, but now there are a huge range of ways natural products and materials can be used in the home. Small space areas are no exception and flooring can play a really big part in adding a design signature or making a space more inviting – particularly in areas such as guest cloakrooms where first impressions count.

Light And Dark
There’s been a real move in exploring light and dark schemes and both are relevant schemes for smaller rooms. Carefully thought out dark schemes can result in comforting, cocooning spaces which we see particularly popular in 2020. Light schemes still play a big part in home design with light floors being a key element of creating a large space feel in smaller rooms.

Versatile Rugs
Rugs have always been a quick way of adding a look, feel and design scheme to a room. Homeowners previously reached for a piece of framed art but are now ready to explore adding aesthetics in the form of textiles such as our rugs. Now more than ever, homeowners are more confident in playing with styles and love the versatility that a rug can bring to their home.
