Recently BBC Two aired a special one-off 90 minute film, The Windermere Children, depicting the incredible true story of young survivors of the Holocaust who came to Lake District in the summer of 1945 after the devastating events of World War II.
Last year our My Weekly Special columnist, Helen Mark, brought the touching story of The Lake District Holocaust Project to our readers, recalling her meeting with two of the survivors, Windermere boys Sam and Ike, now in their 90s. You can read Helen’s full story below…
