Alison Hammond Is Moving To BBC For New Celebrity TV Show
Popular TV presenter Alison Hammond is set star in a new BBC show where she’ll spend 48 hours with some of the UK’s most-loved celebrities.
One of our favourite TV stars is getting her own show with Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend.
The brand-new six-part series is coming to BBC One iPlayer next year. Viewers will spend a weekend with some the country’s most popular personalities as Alison Hammond and her bubbly line of questioning digs deep into the people behind the stardom.
Expect the presenter’s typical hilarity and heart-warming conversation.
In a statement about the new show, Alison said: “I’m so excited to serve up some big lols and tons of OMG revelations on the BBC as I spend some quality time with some of the UK’s favourite celebrities.
“When I’m on a mission no secret is safe, and trust me no stone or cupboard will go unturned!”
We can’t wait!
And neither can the celebrities – apparently, a good number are already lining up.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment at the BBC said: “Alison is one of the most warm-hearted presenters in the UK and it’s no surprise that big name celebrities are lining up to have her spend the weekend at their homes. It’s going to be a blast!”
These past few years, Alison Hammond has steadily become a familiar face on UK telly and a fan favourite, so it’s really no surprise that BBC bosses considered her the best woman for the job.
Mel Balac, creative director for entertainment at BBC Studios, also spoke highly of the presenter. She said: “Her incredible openness, energy and warmth will shed new light on the celebrities she spends the weekend with.
“When Alison comes knocking it’s a special appointment you won’t want to miss!”
Alison Hammond’s This Morning snub?
The news comes after reports that Alison was “snubbed” by ITV for the main This Morning presenting slot, which Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard now host daily.
Alison cleared up such speculation in an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine. She said, “We’re [Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary] the Friday guys! We love being Friday guys!
“I live in Birmingham and do Bake Off and For the Love of Dogs. I never wanted that job. Last year we did extra because we were going through issues, but Cat and Ben will save that show.”
Earlier in the year, Alison Hammond also took over everyone’s favourite dog sanctuary show For The Love Of Dogs and is doing so with the same level of compassion and fun as the late Paul O’Grady. The presenter will continue to host This Morning on Fridays and as holiday cover alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary.
