In her latest book, Miranda Hart reveals that she was living with undiagnosed Lyme disease for decades, and drops the bombshell that she’s been secretly married for over a year now.

I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You, the newest autobiography from sitcom star Miranda Hart, epitomises the duality of life.

Far from her bubbly stage persona and pun-filled banter, the comedian reveals a much more earnest side with a book that is ‘packed with hard-won wisdoms and gentle truths,’ and is an ‘honest exploration of the lessons she has learned on her journey from illness to recovery.’

Miranda pours her heart out onto these pages, revealing that she was in fact ‘bedbound’ for years after her self-titled sitcom Miranda ended. Only later, a few months into the Covid pandemic in 2020, would she discover that she had been living with undiagnosed Lyme disease since she was 15-years-old.

Throughout the memoir, Hart is brutally honest about what life is like with a chronic illness – something she was initially unsure about ever sharing with fans and the world at large.

In a recent interview with Graham Norton, the comedian sat alongside American pop star and actress Selena Gomez who has been famously candid about her own health struggles.

Miranda got emotional when speaking to Selena, noting that watching her be so open and vulnerable about her life with lupus and bipolar disorder in the documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, encouraged the comedian to authentically share the pain of her own story.

While on a current press tour for her book, Miranda also revealed that she is now “married at 51!” Such fun.

I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You may be Miranda’s reflective exercise on the uphill battle that is healing her body and mind, but as the pages turn she begins to slyly mention “The Boy”.

In a recent interview on The One Show, the perpetual singleton announced the news of her marriage by moving a sparkly ring from her right hand to her left.

“I’d written Gary for onscreen Miranda, and it wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person.

“He’s my best friend; we have the best fun. And I’m just thrilled to be a young bride… at 51.”

Miranda Hart married surveyor Richard Fairs, 60, in July last year after the pair feel in love during lockdown.

It’s a brand new chapter for the star, and we can’t wait to see what she does next!
