Air-Fryer Baking: It’s A Thing!
It’s probably fair to say that air fryers are now a staple in the modern British kitchen, and it seems we’re using them for more than putting together quick, healthy dinners – as new research reveals almost half of Brits use them for baking, too.
In celebration of upcoming Afternoon Tea Week, charity Breast Cancer Now polled 2,000 British adults about their air fryer habits and found that 45% had used theirs to make scones and cakes.
Needless to say, it’s Gen Z that have been the quickest group to adopt air fryers for their baking, with 73% of them having enjoyed air-fried sweet treats.
But whether you’re an experimental risk-taker, a traditional baker or someone who simply prefers to buy rather than make, Breast Cancer Now is encouraging everyone to enjoy a slice or two in support of its Afternoon Tea fundraiser in August.
“Breast cancer is the most common cancer, with around 55,000 women and 400 men diagnosed each year in the UK. But thanks to your incredible support, every Afternoon Tea held will help Breast Cancer Now to drive forward our life-saving research and provide vital support services,” says Georgie Gibbons, Afternoon Tea Manager at Breast Cancer Now.
“Whether you create a hand-piped masterpiece or simply put on a shop-bought spread, by hosting an Afternoon Tea you will help us be there for people affected by breast cancer.”
To get involved, simply sign up on the charity’s website and then hold an afternoon tea of your choice. The location, guests and sweet treats on offer are totally up to you – no air fryer required!
In fact, we’ve got some must-try recipes, courtesy of Breast Cancer Now and former Masterchef winner Jane Devonshire, especially for the occasion.
We wonder when this new trend will make its way into the Bake Off tent…
Afternoon Tea Week runs from 12-18 August. For more details, visit Breast Cancer Now
