How To Stay Sane When Working From Home

Lifestyle tweaks as small as standing up or taking a supplement can make a big difference.

Paul Chamberlain, Category Development & Product Training Director of pioneering wellness brand Solgar shares his advice for staying healthy (and sane!) when working from home.

Have A Routine

“The first and most crucial step when adjusting to working from home is routine. Whether it’s getting dressed or making lunch, it’s vital for both the body and brain to set clear operating parameters and set yourself up for the day.

Start the day with a walk so you feel as if you’ve had a ‘commute’. This is a great way to get the blood flowing and make the transition into work mode.

“I’ve been starting my day with a stretch, porridge and a green smoothie, filled with antioxidants and an immunity supporting supplement,” says Paul. “Solgar Ultibio Immune capsules would be my recommendation, before pressing on with work and emails!

Take A Hike

“Arguably, the most significant part of working from home is being shut off from the physical outside world.

“Where possible, I’d suggest breaking up the day with a run, walk or jog. This is great to keep bones and joints healthy but also an excellent opportunity to get your daily dose of Vitamin D.

“For those unable to go outside I’d recommend a supplement like Vitamin D3 to avoid running the risk of deficiency and the resulting symptoms (fatigue, bone and back pain, muscle pain etc).

“This would be in addition to Solgar 7 that helps reduce stiffness and mobility.

Eat Well

“I would advise everyone to review their daily diet, eat plenty of nutrient-rich foods and increase the amounts of anti-inflammatory linked foods like turmeric.

“Inflammation can be the result of anything from poor nutrition to bad posture and can have problematic effects on the body.

“Reduced mobility, issues with the digestion and low moods can all be associated with inflammation.

“So for those who struggle to obtain this from diet alone, I’d suggest taking a supplement containing turmeric, or even better – and 185 times more bioavailable – Curcumin.”

Draw Boundaries

Paul continues, “It will benefit you if you can set up a proper office space, ideally somewhere you can close the door on at the end of the day.

“One of the hardest things about working from home is stopping and having that clear definition between work and home life. Having your workspace on the kitchen table makes it harder to avoid being at work.

Just Talk

“Finally, I’d say that the best thing people can do to stay sane during this time is to talk to one another.

“It’s an interesting time for us all, but there is a sense of camaraderie in isolation.

“Speak up, share your WFH tips – and most importantly stay healthy.”
